AUGUST 14: DOUG GWYN:<\/strong> George Fox\u2019s last words: \u201cAll is well.\u00a0 The Seed reigns over all.\u201d And \u201cI\u2019m glad I was here.\u201d\u00a0 The Seed is the eternal dimension hidden within each of us, hidden within time and place.\u00a0 While we live, we exist in particular places and times.\u00a0 When we die, we no longer exist, we\u2019re in the eternal.\u00a0 The point is to start living eternity now, which is the kingdom of heaven on earth.<\/p>\n

AUGUST 21: NANCY MARSTALLER:<\/strong> To stay open to the Holy Spirit, it\u2019s important to have an open heart, to keep listening to others\u2019 stories, for the messages they bring in various ways, even if the language is not our usual or not to our liking. We need to stay open to Spirit\u2019s promptings to share our own stories and act as Spirit moves.\u00a0 As Stephen Grellet said: I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.<\/p>\n

AUGUST 28: DOUG GWYN:<\/strong> We exclude others through either\/or<\/em> thinking, like racism or sexism.\u00a0 To build a civil society, we must work toward both\/and<\/em>, across our various identities and differences.\u00a0 Life in community, especially religious community, goes still further, to neither\/nor<\/em>.\u00a0 In community, we become real persons to one another, no longer this or that identity or difference.\u00a0 And such communities are leavening agents, helping the wider society grow beyond either\/or, at least to both\/and.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
