Do Quakers celebrate Easter?\u00a0 In the past, not so much. For early Quakers, “the church holidays were seen as pagan festivals with a\u00a0superficial Christian overlay.”\u00a0 And today?<\/p>\n

These days Easter is largely celebrated by Friends standing up on\u00a0Sunday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to break the silence of worship with nostalgic stories of Easters in their pre-Quaker youth. Sometimes they\u2019ll admit to having attended a Easter service at another church before coming to meeting that morning. If you\u2019re really lucky, you\u2019ll get ministry about flowers or hats.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So says Martin Kelley in The Quaker Daily<\/a>, a new source keeping us informed about what’s happening among Quakers.\u00a0 Is that a fair assessment of what will happen at Durham Friends this coming Sunday?\u00a0 Come find out.\u00a0 Here’s what’s happening:<\/p>\n
