Rebecca Traister is currently writing a book about women, anger, and social\/political change.\u00a0 She asks herself:\u00a0 How do I view the reality of women’s anger–as a nation-shaping catalytic, often progressive social force-with my Quaker education that complicated my feelings about the use of aggression?\u00a0 This talk is about the process of trying to fit the anger so many of us are feeling about power imbalances and injustice into a Quaker framework.\u00a0 What is at odds with it?\u00a0 What makes sense?\u00a0\u00a0A discussion period will follow.<\/div>\n
Rebecca Traister<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is writer at large for\u00a0New York<\/em>\u00a0magazine and a contributing editor at\u00a0Elle<\/em>. A National Magazine Award finalist, she has written about women in politics, media, and entertainment from a feminist perspective for\u00a0The New Republic<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Salon\u00a0<\/em>and has also contributed to\u00a0The Nation<\/em>,\u00a0The New York Observer<\/em>,\u00a0The New York Times<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Washington Post<\/em>. Traister’s first book,\u00a0Big Girls Don’t Cry<\/em>, about women and the 2008 election, was a\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0Notable Book of 2010 and the winner of the Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book prize. Rebecca’s most recent book,\u00a0All the Single Ladies<\/em>, is described as “a nuanced investigation into the sexual, economic, and emotional lives of women in America.”<\/div>\n
