Mildred Alexander, long time member of Durham Friends Meeting, passed from this life on September 18, 2020.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0She was a resident of Pinkham Brook Rd. Durham and was born in Lisbon Falls, daughter of the late Louis and Annette (Boultbee) Dumas. She was educated in local schools.\u00a0 Mildred married Andrew Alexander in January of 1949, and they spent many happy years together until he passed in 2009.\u00a0 Mildred enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, her cats and most of all time spent with her great grandchildren.\u00a0 Mildred was an active member of the Meeting Trustees.\u00a0 While a trustee she was the Meeting janitor and went the extra mile to keep the building in good shape.\u00a0 One friends fond memory of Mildred was that she was good-natured with a great sense of humor.\u00a0 \u2018Once when there was a jug of Babcock\u2019s apple cider in the meeting frig Mildred drank a cup. \u00a0I love cider, she said.\u00a0\u00a0 The friend said, especially when it is about to turn.\u00a0 Mildred replied.\u00a0 \u2018Me too!\u00a0 Look at us! Drinking hard cider in the Meetinghouse!\u2019\u00a0 Mildred was one of many from the Meeting who worked at the Maine Idyll for many years.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is survived by her sister Laurette Chapman of Lewiston, four grandchildren: Thomas St.Germain of Durham, Carrie St.Germain of Lewiston, Angela Loucka of Tampa, FL and Johnell Ramos of Costa Rica, four great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Pauline (Alexander) Harvey in 2006 and three sisters, Annette Tibbets, Beverly Craig and Bernice Curtis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
