{"id":8600,"date":"2026-04-17T10:58:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T14:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.durhamfriendsmeeting.org\/?p=8600"},"modified":"2026-04-17T11:04:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T15:04:19","slug":"pentecost-devotions-from-fum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.durhamfriendsmeeting.org\/?p=8600","title":{"rendered":"2026 Pentecost Devotions from FUM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Friends United Meeting (FUM) has put together a series of short devotional commentaries on Bible passages for the season of Pentecost, which this year extends from April 15 to May 24, the actual day of Pentecost. You can find these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.friendsunitedmeeting.org\/resources\/publications\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of the daily commentaries was prepared by a member of an FUM-affiliated Quaker Meeting.  Two of the commentaries are by members of Durham Friends (NEYM):  Doug Bennett (April 30) and Leslie Manning (May 8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pentecost commemorates the descent of the&nbsp;Holy Spirit&nbsp;upon the&nbsp;Apostles of Jesus,&nbsp;Mary, and other followers of Christ, while they were in&nbsp;Jerusalem&nbsp;celebrating the&nbsp;Feast of Weeks, as described in the&nbsp;Acts of the Apostles&nbsp;(Acts 2:1\u201331).
