Durham Monthly Meeting of Friends Business Meeting Minutes, July 19, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Durham Monthly Meeting of Friends met for the conduct of business on Sunday, July 19, 2026, with ten people in attendance at the Meetinghouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Meeting Opening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Clerk, Renee Cote, opened the meeting by reading \u201cA Meditation on Galatians 6:9\u201310\u201d by Paul Levy, published in Tabletalk Magazine<\/em>, December 2023. Please see attachment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note that Trustees, and the Finance and Peace and Social Concerns committees did not have reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Approval of Minutes of June 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Meeting approved the minutes of the June meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. <\/strong>Ministry and Counsel \u2014 Renee Cote<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ministry and Counsel is asking for approval for a Certificate of Denominational Endorsement for Shelley Randall. M&C will also put together a support committee for Shelley and her work. Please see M&C report for a detailed description of the deliberations of the committee and the specific attributes of Shelley\u2019s ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meeting heartily approved the recommendation of the Committee to provide a Certificate of Endorsement for Shelley Randall, which was read aloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This approval will now be forwarded to Falmouth Quarter. The Minute of Endorsement, which uses the wording found in Faith and Practice<\/em>, was read. (The Minute will be posted on the website and be an attachment to these business meeting minutes.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Second<\/strong> Reading of Ed Hinshaw Memorial Minute<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Please see attachment.Meeting attendees asked thatthe Memorial Minute be read aloud. The Minute will be read aloud at Quarterly Meeting as well, and then forwarded to the Yearly Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meeting approved the Memorial Minute for Ed Hinshaw, with great gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5. Proposal for<\/strong> World Quaker Day fundraising event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The proposed event would raise funds for a new truck for Lisbon Area Community Outreach (LACO). <\/strong>One idea is to host a harvest dinner followed by a contra dance, perhaps in the Durham Eureka Community Center (Grange) in Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meeting approved a fundraising event for LACO. The Special Events Committee will proceed with fleshing out the details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 6. Representatives for Quarterly Meeting, August 15.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Leslie, Sarah, and Dorothy Hinshaw will serve as representatives to Falmouth Quarterly Meeting, which will meet at Durham Friends on August 15th, beginning at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 7. Proposal to suspend August 2026 Meeting for Business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Meeting approved suspending the August meeting for business.
