The summer quarter is a gathering with a focus on sharing, being together and building connections including time for play and creative exploration, laughter, song and more. After our business meeting, we will facilitate an exploration of eldering among Friends informed by Marty Grundy’s pamphlet “Tall Poppies” (LINK). Marty will join us by zoom in the afternoon for further conversation.
Our Schedule for the day is:
9:00 – arrive, coffee, welcoming
9:30 – worship and meeting for business: The agenda is
· Appoint Doug Bennett to the Beacon Hill Friends House Corporation for a second three-year term.
· Appoint Dorothy Grannell and Leslie Manning to shepherd Southern Maine Friends Meeting as they make the transition from being a Monthly Meeting to being an allowed worship group. (Dorothy and Leslie have already started this work and will bring a report)
· Receive a minute from Durham supporting the work of Shelley Randall and requesting a minute of denominational endorsement. Approve a committee to review this request and bring a recommendation to the October Quarter.
· Consider a request for Falmouth Quarter to serve as the fiscal agent for the Quaker Healing Circle: This would include receiving donations and registration fees and making payments. Our treasurer supports this request. The quarter has done this in the past, most recently for Anna Fritz’s New England tour of the performance of “An Iliad”. If it becomes a bigger task than anticipated Helen Mullin, former treasurer of Brooklyn Meeting (NYYM) has offered to assist.
The Quaker Healing Circle is a fairly new group of practitioners from across the continent, who meet monthly over Zoom and annually in person once a year. Their mission statement is: “We practice healing, with divine assistance, as a spiritual expression of love, through many modalities. We are led to create a circle of healers; open to all, supporting one another, ever enlarging the reach and strength of our healing community. In the spirit of continuing revelation, we open to the mystery of healing love that draws us ever deeper into this sacred calling.”

Falmounth Quarterly Meeting will gather on Saturday, August 15, at Durham Friends Meetinghouse starting at 9:00 (gathering) with the program to begin at 9:30.
The program will include worship, a short business meeting, and a session on eldering led by Mimi Marstaller. She will draw from a 1999 Pendle Hill pamphlet called Tall Poppies: Supporting Gifts of Ministry and Eldering in the Monthly Meeting by Marty Grundy.
A potluck lunch will follow.
