Durham Friends Woman’s Society Meeting Minutes 10.19.’26
Hybrid Meeting held at Nancy Marstaller’s home.
Present: Dorothy Curtis, President, Nancy Marstaller, Treasurer, Kim Bolshaw, Sophia Orchen. On Zoom: Susan Gilbert, Secretary.
Cards: For Friends
Program and Devotions: We took turns reading from the USFWI “Blueprints” Volume 83, Lesson 1: “Your Unfailing Love” by Rita Davis Mintmier. Psalm 143:8
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” This psalm led Rita in faith and understanding when her grandchild was found to have a rare genetic diagnosis. We discussed seeing that of God in others, how we might adjust to learn positive new languages of life for those who might have been viewed as deficient.
Treasurer’s Report: Our current account balance is $667.20. Since the September report, we received $50 for dues, $25 for new Blueprints, $74 for jam, and $19 for the offering. We now have $478 earmarked for LACO. Nancy will mail that check. This leaves $60 not designated.
Minutes: Susan read the 9.21.’26 minutes.

Marian Baker suggested the 2027 spring meeting of USFWI be held at our Meeting House. She would like to gather women of the African diaspora to participate and host a board member from Kenya. We are looking at April

The dates will be November 15 to December 13, and coordinate with the Maker Cafe. We can begin bringing items November 8. Nancy’s niece is expecting a baby and there are quilt squares available at the Meeting House for those who would like to contribute to the quilt in progress.
Dorothy closed the meeting with these words of Dolly Parton:
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.”
Respectfully Submitted, Susan Gilbert
